Volunteer Attorney Information Session
Date: Friday, January 17, 2020
Time: 9:30 am – 10:30 am
Location: Casa Cornelia Law Center, 2760 Fifth Avenue, Suite 200, San Diego CA 92103

The Information Session is not an MCLE event, but rather an informal discussion over coffee where we can address attorney questions about current events, recent policy changes and pro bono all at once in a group setting. We will discuss the types of volunteer opportunities available, and what might be the best fit. Questions are welcome!

This session is reserved for licensed attorneys. Space is limited, so kindly RSVP to Pro Bono Program Assistant, Rosa Vargas, at rvargas@casacornelia.org.

Asylum Law and Procedure Training
Date: Tuesday, January 21, 2020
Time: 9:30 am – 11:45 am (2.0 hours of MCLE credit available, with a 15 minute break)
Location: Law firm in the Golden Triangle area of San Diego (92121 zip code). Exact location provided upon RSVP.

Learning objectives for the Asylum training:
While representing a client assigned by CCLC:
– Identify the statutorily-required elements for Asylum (and related protection) and legally-sufficient evidence to support the claim;
– Timely prepare a complete application for Asylum (and related protection) and competently represent the client before the Immigration Court and/or the Asylum Office; and
– Represent the client in a trauma-informed, age-appropriate manner.

This private training is made possible through our generous host, a partner law firm and supporter. A limited number of guest seats may be made available for select attorneys from outside the host firm who are ready to commit to a pro bono asylum case with Casa Cornelia.  If you would like to be considered for the training, please contact Pro Bono Program Director, Katherine Paculba Lacher, at kpaculba@casacornelia.org.
