This workshop is an informal presentation and Q & A session for attorneys handling or supervising Casa Cornelia Law Center pro bono cases for defensive asylum and/or related relief pending in San Diego Immigration Court. This session is designed to make our Volunteer Attorneys more confident in what to expect in their Master Calendar Hearings. Given the many recent changes in policy and procedure and the hiring of many new judges, the session is appropriate both for those attorneys who have appeared in immigration court before, and those making their first appearance in court. No MCLE credit for the session is available at this time, as the session is still in development, and the content will be developed and informed by the needs of our volunteers going forward. The session is designed for attorneys who have already attended our two hour “Asylum Law and Procedure” MCLE or a similar training, and assumes a basic knowledge of substantive and procedural asylum law.
